Guidelines for Developing Academic Administration in the Era of Artificial Intelligence: A Case Study of Triam Udom Suksa Nomklao Pathum Thani School under the Educational Service Area Office

Abstract

The purposes of this research article were 1) to examine the current status, desired state, and needs regarding academic administration in the era of Artificial Intelligence at Triam Udom Suksa Nomklao Pathum Thani School; and 2) to develop guidelines for academic administration in the era of Artificial Intelligence of school. This study was a mixed-methods research divided into two phases: Phase 1 was a quantitative research involving a population of 76 administrators and teachers of Triam Udom Suksa Nomklao Pathum Thani School. The research instrument was a questionnaire with a reliability coefficient of 0.987. Data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, and the Modified Priority Needs Index (PNI_modified); Phase 2 was the qualitative research conducted through focus group discussions with 15 administrators and teachers serving as heads of academic administration units. Data were analyzed using content analysis. The research findings revealed that 1) the overall current state of academic administration in the Artificial Intelligence era was at a high level (μ = 3.70, σ = 0.73), whereas the overall desired state was at the highest level (μ = 4.54, σ = 0.65). The top three areas of highest need were curriculum development (PNI_modified = 0.300), instructional management (PNI_modified = 0.254), and measurement and evaluation (PNI_modified = 0.243), respectively; 2) guidelines for developing academic administration in the Artificial Intelligence era comprised nine aspects: 1) regarding curriculum development, Artificial Intelligence should be used to analyze data for curriculum improvement;
2) in terms of teaching and learning management, the use of Artificial Intelligence in designing learning experiences should be encouraged; 3) in the aspect of measurement and evaluation, Artificial Intelligence should be used to collect and analyze learning outcomes; 4) regarding research aimed at improving the quality of education, Artificial Intelligence should be utilized to support research in an appropriate and ethical manner; 5) in terms of development of media, technology, and learning resources, support for resources and the enhancement of teachers' skills should be provided; 6) in the aspect of supervision, monitoring, and evaluation, Artificial Intelligence should be used to analyze data for teacher development; 7) in the aspect of promotion of academic knowledge within the community, Artificial Intelligence should be utilized to develop media and activities that aligned  with community needs; 8) in terms of academic planning, Artificial Intelligence should be used to analyze data for systematic planning; and 9) regarding information management, Artificial Intelligence should be utilized to manage data and support the development of teaching and learning.
