A Participatory Political Culture in a Democratic System of People in Nakhon Sawan City Municipality, Nakhon Sawan Province

Abstract
The objectives of this research article were 1) to study the level of the opinions towards a democratic political culture of people in Nakhon Sawan City Municipality; 2) to analyze the relationship between Saraniyadhamma and political participation in a democratic system of people in Nakhon Sawan Municipality; and
3) to propose guidelines for developing a participatory democratic political culture of people in Nakhon Sawan City Municipality based on Saraniyadhamma. This was a mixed-methods research. Quantitative research used a survey method with a questionnaire having a reliability coefficient of 0.91 and a sample of 399 people. Statistical analysis included frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and correlation coefficient. Qualitative research involved in-depth interviews with 18 key informants selected using purposive sampling and content analysis with contextual analysis. The research findings revealed that 1) overall opinions regarding Saraniyadhamma and a political culture in a democratic system of people in Nakhon Sawan Municipality City were at a high level ( = 3.76, S.D.= 0.57). The opinions regarding a political culture in a democratic system of people in Nakhon Sawan City Municipality, Nakhon Sawan Province, were also at a high level (
= 3.73, S.D.= 0.53); 2) the analysis of the relationship between Saraniyadhamma and political participation in a democratic system of people in Nakhon Sawan City Municipality showed a low overall positive correlation (r = 0.381); 3) recommendations for developing a participatory political culture in a democratic system based on Saraniyadhamma should focus on promoting faith in democracy, coupled with respect for human dignity and adherence to democratic rules. This should involve providing opportunities for constructive participation, fostering a sense of civic duty, cultivating positive attitudes and mutual trust, promoting reasoned criticism, and reducing authoritarianism, as well as upholding the principles of equality and peaceful coexistence in a democratic society.
