Political Trust of People toward Local Politicians in Chum Ta Bong Subdistrict, Chum Ta Bong District, Nakhon Sawan Province based on Sangahavatthu 4

Abstract

The purposes of this research article were 1) to study the levels of local political trust among people in Chum Ta Bong Subdistrict, Chum Ta Bong District, Nakhon Sawan Province; 2) to study the relationship between Sangahavattu 4 and factors affecting political trust in politicians; and 3) to propose guidelines for developing public political trust in politicians based on Sangahavattu 4. The research employed a mixed-methods approach. Quantitative data was collected from a sample of 366 individuals using a questionnaire with a reliability coefficient of 0.764, and data was analyzed using descriptive statistics including frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and Pearson correlation coefficient. Qualitative data were collected through in-depth interviews with 18 key informants, and data was analyzed using descriptive content analysis. The research findings revealed that 1) the level of factors influencing public political trust in politicians based on Sangahavattu 4 was at the highest level overall ( = 4.52, S.D. = 0.31), and the level of factors influencing public political trust in politicians was at a high level overall ( = 4.50, S.D. = 0.42); 2) the relationship between Sangahavattu 4 and factors influencing political trust in politicians showed a positive and congruent relationship, with an overall moderate level (r) (0.328**); 3) guidelines for developing public political trust in politicians found that 3.1) policies should be tailored to needs, transparent, and open to public participation; 3.2) local administrative organizations should manage their operations transparently, be accountable, and adhere to good governance; 3.3) politicians should act honestly, transparently, selflessly, and responsibly; and 3.4) politicians should disclose information, be open to opinions, and respond politely.
