Role of Local Politicians in Community Development for Ban Lao Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Sung Men District, Phrae Province

Abstract

The purposes of this research article were 1) to study the role of local politicians in community development for Ban Lao Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Sung Men District, Phrae Province; 2) to study the relationship between Aparihaniyadhamma 7 and the role of local politicians in community development for Ban Lao Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Sung Men District, Phrae Province; and 3) to study problems, obstacles, and suggestions regarding the role of local politicians in community development for Ban Lao Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Sung Men District, Phrae Province. This was a mixed methods research. Quantitative research was conducted by distributing questionnaires to a sample of 303 people. Qualitative research used in-depth interviews with 9 informants. The results of the research found that 1) the overall level of the role of local politicians in community development according to Aparihaniyadhamma 7 was at a high level (= 3.85, S.D. = 0.52); 2) the relationship between Aparihaniyathamma 7 and the role of local politicians in community development, Ban Lao Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Sung Men District, Phrae Province, overall, had a very high positive relationship (r = 0.933**); and 3) problems, obstacles, and suggestions regarding the role of local politicians in community development, Ban Lao Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Sung Men District, Phrae Province found that the water supply was not sufficient for household use, and in some areas there was still no road repair and it was not convenient to travel during the rainy season. Local agencies did not regularly publicize knowledge about seasonal infectious diseases. People were not encouraged to pursue a career. There were not lack of training and education about drugs for children and youth within the community and lack of promotion of democratic governance for citizens to receive equality and have rights and freedoms. Suggestions found that the water supply system should be reserved or there should be an agency to inspect groundwater in the area. An urgent road improvement project should be organized. There should be media or community leaders to publicize knowledge about infectious diseases to the public. There should be promotion and support for people in the area to have careers that can be extended. Knowledge and punishments about drugs should be given to children and youth in the community on a regular basis. People should be instilled in them to exercise their right to freedom of expression that was correct and within the framework of good morals. Local wisdom should be promoted and supported for the community to develop into a source of learning. And morality and ethics should be instilled in the youth.
