Factors Affecting People's Decision Making in the Election of Local Administrators in Cho Hae Subdistrict Municipality, Mueang Phrae District, Phrae Province

Abstract

The objectives of this research article were 1) to study the decision making level of people in the election of local administrators in Cho Hae Subdistrict Municipality, Mueang Phrae District, Phrae Province; 2) to study the factors affecting people's decision making in the election of local administrators in Cho Hae Subdistrict Municipality, Mueang Phrae District, Phrae Province; and 3) to study problems, obstacles, and suggestions regarding factors affecting people's decision making in the election of local administrators in Cho Hae Subdistrict Municipality, Mueang Phrae District, Phrae Province. It was a mixed methods research. For quantitative research, sample group was from people aged 18 years and over who lived in Cho Hae Subdistrict Municipality, Mueang Phrae District, Phrae Province, 7,436 people. The population was obtained by random sampling using Taro Yamane's formula of 380 people. In terms of qualitative research, in-depth interviews were used with 10 key informants by purposive sampling. The results of the research found that 1) the level of people's decision-making in the election of local administrators according to Sappurisadhamma 7, overall was at a high level and the level of people's decision-making in the election of local administrators in Cho Hae Subdistrict Municipality, Mueang Phrae District, Phrae Province, overall was at a high level; 2) Sappurisadhamma affected people's decision-making in the election of local administrators in Cho Hae Subdistrict Municipality, Mueang Phrae District, Phrae Province, including Dhammanyuta aspect, Mattanyutta aspect, and Parisanyuta aspect, 67.14 percent that was statistically significant at the 0.05 level; and 3) problems and obstacles included the public still lacking in studying the personal information of election candidates. Candidates' campaigns lacked publicity through online media. Election candidates still had the same way of working, which was not interesting. The applicant's policy formulation lacked consistency with the state's established development plan and the public has not yet participated in the presentation of the policy. Suggestions found that public relations channels should be increased for the public to study information about the candidates. People should be educated about changing their political behavior so that they can participate as a committee to monitor candidates' election campaigns. Policies should be clearly defined in accordance with the state development plan and people should be encouraged to participate in formulating policies to be used as guidelines for work.
