Abstract

The development and enforcement of environmental laws play a crucial role in promoting sustainable development in Thailand. Environmental development must strike a balance between economic growth and the long-term preservation of natural resources. Over the years, Thailand has made efforts to improve and develop environmental laws to accommodate changes in the economy and society. However, the country still faces issues with inadequate law enforcement, which can hinder the achievement of sustainable development goals. The approach to developing environmental laws to promote sustainable development in Thailand should focus on creating laws that can address challenges arising in the business and social sectors. These challenges include pollution control, biodiversity conservation, water management, and promoting the efficient use of natural resources. The laws should be flexible and adaptable to changing situations and needs over time. Currently, there are problems with weak enforcement and neglect of environmental regulations, which have significant impacts on the environment. Effective law enforcement requires stringent monitoring and clear penalties to prevent legal violations, which can drive behavioral changes in both the business sector and the public. The development and enforcement of environmental laws to promote sustainable development in Thailand require collaboration from all sectors, including government, private businesses, and citizens. Raising awareness and encouraging participation in environmental conservation are essential. This can be achieved by enhancing knowledge and understanding of the importance of environmental preservation and the sustainable use of natural resources through research and providing accurate information to the public. The development and enforcement of environmental laws in Thailand need improvements in various areas, including the completeness and rigor of the laws, as well as strengthening enforcement mechanisms for better effectiveness. This is crucial for achieving sustainable development across all dimensions—economic, social, and environmental.
