Relationships between Perceptions of Using Administrative Power and Working Motivations of Teachers under Trang Primary Educational Service Area Office 2

Abstract
This study aimed to investigate teachers’ perception of using administrative power of school administrators and working motivation of teachers, relationships between perception of administrative power and working motivation of teachers, and to examine problems and suggestions concerning school administrative power and working motivation of teachers under Trang Primary Educational Service Area Office 2. The sample consisted of 302 teachers obtained by using Krejcie and Morgan’s table for sample size determination with 95% confidence, and stratified random sampling based on school size. The study instrument was a five-point rating scale questionnaire with the reliability coefficients of .943 and .931 respectively. The statistics used in this study included percentage, mean, standard deviation, and Pearson’s correlation coefficient.
The results revealed that 1) the teachers’ perceptions of using school administrative power were found at very appropriate levels. 2) The teachers’ working motivation was found at good levels. 3) There was a highly positive relationship between the overall perceptions of using administrative power and working the overall motivation of teachers at the significance level of .001 with the correlation coefficient of .806, and 4) problems indicated that, some, administrators did not exercise their power properly in various occasions. Also, teachers were at odds with their administrators at work. Suggestions were made that administrators should listen to teachers’ opinions, arrange a meeting for making decisions together and for boosting working motivation.
